At Whitegrove Physical Education is embedded into the whole school experience and is part of the learning journey of every pupil as they progress from Foundation Stage through to Year 6.
We have a specialist PE team who provide high quality taught PE during allocated curriculum time in addition to extensive out of hours learning opportunities in clubs and squad sessions.
Our aims for PE at Whitegrove are threefold:
- To improve the physical capabilities of all pupils through taught lessons covering a diverse range of physical activities and in so doing introduce them to a 'sport for life' which they will still be playing in adulthood.
- To encourage and develop body awareness and an understanding of the importance of healthy lifestyles in order to equip our pupils for life after school in an increasingly sedentary world.
- To extend the gifted and talented athletes to develop their abilities and allow them to experience competition against others through both intra and inter school competitions.
