At Whitegrove we believe that musical development is a vital part of the broad and balanced curriculum.
Every child should experience a range of high quality musical experiences. We aim to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and nurture their talent as musicians. This will increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement and thus enhance their overall development. All children develop the skills of musical appreciation, singing and composing. We have thriving choirs for all ages and all children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. We take part in musical events where children can perform both with their peers and with the wider community. As a school we often join together to share musical learning and experiences.
We ensure that our pupils:
- Perform, listen to, review and evaluate a wide range of music.
- Learn to sing and use their voices, to create and compose music on their own and with others and to use technology appropriately.
- Understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated.
